4.02: Handsome Ransom

This week on the glorious Venture Bros: A Venture Brothers Podcast Bryan Dressel, Nick “The Penguin” Friedemann, and Graham “Stargirl” Mason talk about HANDSOME RANSOM!! We’re introduced to Captain Sunshine and his arc with Hank, which in true Venture Bros fashion approaches that “offensive” line, and does a little jig on it. A very fun episode whose A-story and B-story don’t mesh nearly as well as they should.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

This one was pretty plot heavy but damn is it not fucking awesome. The story was deep and rich but still simple enough that I didn’t feel overwhelmed by it. The world building of this show is unbelievable.

3.10: The Lepidopterists

This week on the podcast Bryan Dressel, Nicholas “pine fruit” Friedemann, and Mr. Graham “Strawberry” Mason talk about The Lepidopterists, the title of which is tougher to say than you might imagine. It’s also weirdly placed within the season given Tears of a Sea Cow and Now Museum – Now You Don’t. Still a super fun episode!

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

Kind of a complex story line in this one and a rare one not featuring doc and the boys, but its was a good change of the pace for the season.

3.09: Now Museum – Now You Don’t!

This week on Venture Bros Bryan Dressel, Nick “A Whole Bushel of Grapes” Friedemann, and Graham “Raspberry” Mason talk about “Now Museum – Now You Don’t!” a fun little episode jammed in the middle of a two-parter. Kind of comes out of the blue, but it’s still a fun episode.

Note: there’s some issues with one of the mics in this episode, so apologies in advance.

3.08: Tears of a Sea Cow

This week on the podcast Bryan Dressel, Nick “Apricot” Friedemann, and Graham “Plum” Mason talk about Tears of a Seacow, which starts out strong but kind of falters at the end. At least it’s stronger than the previous two episodes.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

I think there are some good things from this episode, but it’s not one of my favorites. It might have been too Dermott heavy for my liking.

3.07: What Goes Down, Must Come Up

This week on the podcast Bryan Dressel, Graham “Orange” Mason, and Nick “Peach” Friedemann talk about rockets full of poo, and about how “Firestarter” looks and sounds like Nick. That’s right, they’re talking about What Goes Down, Must Come Up.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

This was another episode I wasn’t too sure of at first because it was so incredibly dark. Now, I think its amazing and it shows how the original team venture including Jonas were fucking terrible people.

3.06: Dr. Quymn, Medicine Woman

This week on the show Bryan Dressel, Graham “Pineapple” Mason, and Nicholas “Starfruit” Friedemann enter the lull of season three, which continues next week as well. There’s some funny stuff to be had in this evergreen episode, but coming off of some really strong episodes it’s a bit of a letdown. Ayyy! Enjoy!

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

When I first saw this episode I hated it. I really felt like it was a low point for season 3. After watching it again and being a much more mature person I have grown to like the episode. Many have childhood dramas that can handicap us as adults and keep us from happiness. That’s what this episode is about. Maybe it’s not a blueprint to overcoming those dramas but it’s definitely there to help us identify them.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

This episode is one of the funniest but also super dark at the same time. This episode makes me wonder if the creators of Rick and Mitty got any inspiration from the character of Dr.Venture.
