Twitch Lays Off Over 400 People, CEO Steps Down
Yesterday Twitch announced the dismissal of 400 employees, following a recent trend of mass layoffs across the tech industry and the resignation of former CEO Emmett Shear. In a blog post, new CEO Dan Clancy cited economic conditions and revenues that didn’t meet expected forecasted profits for the need to downsize. This news follows a trend of gaming media outlets bleeding people in the aftermath of the post-COVID realization that some people won’t be permanently plugged-into the internet once they aren’t a captive audience. -Joel

This week the Game Developers Conference takes over San Francisco for the annual expo focused on lectures, panels, and roundtable discussions from notable people within the video game industry.
