3.08: Tears of a Sea Cow

This week on the podcast Bryan Dressel, Nick “Apricot” Friedemann, and Graham “Plum” Mason talk about Tears of a Seacow, which starts out strong but kind of falters at the end. At least it’s stronger than the previous two episodes.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

I think there are some good things from this episode, but it’s not one of my favorites. It might have been too Dermott heavy for my liking.

Episode #264 – Crazy Rich Asians

This week on the podcast we’re living the good life as we talk about Crazy Rich Asians, directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and the wonderful Michelle Yeoh. There’s a lot to like in this lavish film, but it’s not without its problems. Special guest Gabriel Figueroa helps us break down what worked, and what didn’t.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

This was another episode I wasn’t too sure of at first because it was so incredibly dark. Now, I think its amazing and it shows how the original team venture including Jonas were fucking terrible people.

Episode #263 – Bad Times At The El Royale

This week on the podcast the gang has some Bad Times at the El Royale, by which we mean they had a good time because this movie was pretty great. Lot of fun visual imagery and a lot of interesting twists and turns, with a fantastic acting turn from Jeff Bridges. Justin Thiele joins us to talk about the stylish romp from Drew Goddard.

3.06: Dr. Quymn, Medicine Woman

This week on the show Bryan Dressel, Graham “Pineapple” Mason, and Nicholas “Starfruit” Friedemann enter the lull of season three, which continues next week as well. There’s some funny stuff to be had in this evergreen episode, but coming off of some really strong episodes it’s a bit of a letdown. Ayyy! Enjoy!

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

When I first saw this episode I hated it. I really felt like it was a low point for season 3. After watching it again and being a much more mature person I have grown to like the episode. Many have childhood dramas that can handicap us as adults and keep us from happiness. That’s what this episode is about. Maybe it’s not a blueprint to overcoming those dramas but it’s definitely there to help us identify them.

Episode #262 – The Predator (2018)

This week on the podcast we have a bit of a Predator problem. Namely, that the new Predator movie is called THE PREDATOR. You’d think after enough of these movies they would want to reduce the confusion, not add to it. Anyway, this movie is a bit of a mess so we brought in friend of the show Erik Steffens to help us figure out what worked and what didn’t.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

This episode is one of the funniest but also super dark at the same time. This episode makes me wonder if the creators of Rick and Mitty got any inspiration from the character of Dr.Venture.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

This is a very solid episode, more plot driven then most which slows it down a bit. I personally love the writing of episodes like this but I can understand if a casual viewer isn’t into it.

Episode #261 – Feel Good Christmas Movies Battle

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM ALL OF US AT AFTER THE HYPE! In the spirit of the holidays we thought it would be a hoot to give you a battle episode featuring those feel good Christmas movies you might see on ABC Family, Freeform, Hallmark, etc. We had blast pitting these movies against each other, and even brought in producer Brian Nolan to join in the holiday tussle.

BROK HOLLIDAY’S REVIEW

It’s a solid Holiday Special and ends a very venture Bros way. Not a whole lot to say about it with it’s short run time.
