Disney Layoffs, eShop closures, and ebook Lending?

Kind of a bummer day for news yesterday, with Disney laying off more of their employees, the eShops for the 3DS and the Wii getting shuttered, and the Internet Archive losing against the publishers in regards to ebook lending. Overall not all that great. Read on for more.

Publishers beat Internet Archive as judge rules e-book lending violates copyright

While I don’t think scanning books and uploading them to be read for free is good, there’s no denying that publisher greed is absolutely ridiculous and that maybe some happy compromise can and should be made to help libraries thrive. I’m pro libraries, man. -Jon
