The year, 1998, the movie, Meet Joe Black. The first trailer for a Star Wars film in about 15 years has just hit theaters! (remember when the internet sucked?) People across the country bought tickets for a movie they didn’t want to see, sorry Joe, just to see 2 min of Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace! This 2 min!
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999)
Now I don’t think I would EVER spend money to see a trailer, but I get it. Man this was an exciting time! This movie looked AMAZING!!! At the time of course… I finally saw it before A Bug’s Life then snuck into the next screening to watch it again, and I couldn’t have been more excited! Double sided lightsaber! New aliens! Cool ships! And that Darth Vader breath right before the action picks up. This trailer hasn’t aged well, sure, but it still hits me right in the feels when it counts. Too bad the movie couldn’t live up to the hype…
At least we got that kick ass song!
